Issue: ‘Call me at’ feature not working for Non EV users.
Error Message:
Call was not completed or has ended.
Problem Statement:
“Call me at” or Call back feature was introduced in Lync 2010 and continuing Lync 2013. The Call Me At feature in Lync provides a way for users to join the audio portion of a conference by using a cell phone, “land line,” or other device connected to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).
In Lync 2010 “Call me at” was not available for non EV user however in Lync 2013 it is available.
In my case have Lync 2013 however ‘Call me at’ feature is not working for some user.
Resolution:
First will for how to enable this feature in Lync 2010.
How to enable ‘Call me at’ in Lync 2013?
*Assuming that you have deployed enterprise Voice in your environment including Voice policy and dial plan.
Open Lync Management Shell with CsAdministratorand RTCUniversalServerAdmin or similar group permission.
Set-CSConferencingPolicy –AllowNonEnterpriseVoiceUsersToDialOut $true
You can enable this feature using identity ‘policy name’
This setting allows meeting participants and organizers that are not enabled for Enterprise Voice to dial out to a phone number to join the audio portion of the conference. The dial-out call is authorized based on the organizer’s assigned voice policy. This setting is not selected by default in the default global conferencing policy. The setting default value is disabled.
If you want to allow Anonymous users to us ‘Call me at’ feature then use below command let.
Set-CSConferencingPolicy – AllowAnonymousUsersToDialOut $true
This setting allows anonymous users who are already joined to the meeting to dial out to a phone number to join the audio portion of the conference. This setting is optional for dial-in conferencing. This setting is not selected by default in the default global conferencing policy.
Once you have enabled above function then user will use ‘Call me at’ feature.
This feature will work however it will depends on meeting Organizers Voice policy. You can assign Voice policy and dial plan to user who don’t have Enterprise Voice enable.
How to assign Voice Policy to user?
Open Lync management Shell, Run the below Command let.
Grant-CsConferencingPolicy -Identity "Balu Ilag" -PolicyName "WithoutEVD
ialOut"
In my case user was unable to join conference call were conference Organizer doesn’t have any Voice Policy and dial plan assigned.
How to use Call me at feature?
Assume that you have three user A, B and C but no one has enterprise voice enabled.
‘A’ organized Lync meeting and invited ‘B’ and ‘C’ as attendee. When ‘B’ and ‘C’ clicked on meeting URL and gets option ‘Call me at’, they typed their mobile number like below.
However ‘B’ and ‘C’ receives error as ‘Call was not completed or has ended.’
Actually ‘A’ does not have any Voice Policy and dial plan assigned to route call due to attendee were unable to use voice policy and dial plan.
‘Call me at’ feature started working after assigned voice policy and dial plan to Meeting Organizer in our case ‘A’.
